Kainan was SO sad!! I didn't take much footage of him, and ended up trashing the majority of it because he was just crying and it made me sad. It CRACKED him UP, though, and he said I could post it. He thought it was hilarious... go figure:

Family Fun Finale: Hilarious Cooking Show "Chopped" Always Style

So, if you're a regular reader, you probably saw THIS post about the first segment of our cooking show remake and THIS post of part two.

Well today is the day for the finale!  This is the water spewing, food spitting segment.  Paris decided to play a trick on the judges, because she knew that she couldn't possibly make anything better than my tried and true cream cheese filled French Toast... so she added all kinds of spices and weird things to her dish and disguised it from them.  The reaction was priceless.  If you enjoy the video, please click 'like' on youtube!  Thank you:)

Family Fun: Remaking the Cooking Show "CHOPPED" with the kids.

So my 12 year old daughter (last summer) came up with the idea to recreate the show "Chopped" with our family.  She wrote out food lists using things we had at home.  My husband and Squatch volunteered to be the judges (boy, did they regret THAT!) and the rest of us were contestants.

The rules were that you had to use at least some of each ingredients on your list.

The first segment had our food list as:

• Apple
• Peanut Butter
• Salt
• Frosting
• Oatmeal

Not too bad, right?  Surely no one can mess that up too badly.

Okay, so I got carried away watching youtube videos with my mom.  She lives in Iowa, we live in OK, so we don't see her often.  I video taped her watching the Ellend Degeneres show and she was HYSTERICAL!!  In case you're interested in a laugh... or two, please watch!

The One with Cabin Fever, A scared Sheep & a Denim Jumper

Thanks to the bizarre stretch of snow and blizzards in the Tulsa area, life was at a standstill for almost a week for us.  My husband watched a snow plow slide backwards into a ditch in front of him... weird.

Our first day out of the house was on Sunday, when we went out just because we could.  Because if momma's starting to get more twitchy than Kari "It's like Carrie, but with a K instead of a C an AH instead of an AY and one R instead of two and an I instead of an IE." then its time to get out of the house, even if for no other reason.

Goodwill shopping... always a good time.

Look!  Its a denim jumper!!  I AM a homeschooling mom after all!!  *Just kidding, I mean I AM a homeschool mom, but you wouldn't believe how many years I was asked, "I thought you all had to wear denim jumpers" like it was a cult with a dress code!

See how it hangs, just so?  How flattering it is?  My son was so happy, he had to give me a hug.  And my husband was grinning from ear to ear.  Okay, so he may have been laughing at me.  I'm not sure.  The camera was in his face.  Sprite was scared.  "Oh mom!  Stop that!"

On to BigLots!  

The Eclectic store (where we found the much bigger pizza stone for $10.00  Now I can bake more than one loaf of bread at a time!)  I tell you, you'll find anything interesting and entertaining after a week stuck in the house with four kids getting crankier every day!

My hubby and sons want to redecorate the living room now...

We finally got to see Sprite for a few hours after she got snowed in with the family that she nannied for last summer.  This is my oldest daughter, who graduated last year.  Technically she still lives at home, but we don't see her too terribly often.

Guess what this is... I betcha can't guess!

You're RIGHT, BigLots!  That IS UNBELIEVABLE!!

I'm telling you, we were just GIDDY to be out.  It didn't take much to make us crack up.  You might need to save this post for when you've been snowed in for a week.  Or you're drunk or something.  This may not be funny to normal people.

Okay, so you can't see the sheep's scared face, but trust me, this guy was TERRIFIED that I was actually going to sit on him.

Sasquatch found what he thought was a good deal... "Mom, Can I have some Bacon Shells and Cheese, Please?"  Ummm... yeah... that's gonna happen.

I could not for the life of me get a photo with the boys NOT chewing!  Honestly, I took about 5 photos and they are chewing in EVERY one, even though I stood there in Subway saying, "STOP EATING FOR A MINUTE"!  

And there is my little girl, eating a cookie instead of a sandwich.  Healthy choices, FTW!

And finally, to the grocery store.  Look at all that bread!  I'm so glad we make our own bread, bagels, etc and don't buy bread off the shelves anymore anyway, but wow!

The only eggs that were left were the little 6 packs of eggs and the really expensive organic eggs.  I got the last 2 1/2 dozen box that no one took because the box was all mashed up... even though the eggs were fine.  My husband apparently couldn't resist taking the photo with me in it.

So there you have it.  We went home and got pretty much snowed in for another four days.  But lets not talk about that now, shall we?  What did you do for fun last time you got out of the house?

The One with a Shopping Date, Santa on a Bicycle, Flying Pigs & Kitchen Stuff!!! Yippee!!

Yesterday was not what I was expecting.  It was far more wonderful and strange... When my husband and I finally dragged ourselves out of bed at nearly Noon, we decided to go on a day-date.  The kids were thrilled with a  'free day' and I was thrilled to get a day out of the house with my honey.

Things started out a little... oddly.  I finally got to see Tulsa's... Infamous Bicycling Santa who has a sign on his back that says, "Will Sing Naked"

See?  He was happy to see my camera, too!

Yes, really.  He is somewhat... a local character that I've heard of and never seen.  The elusive bike riding Santa!  The man who upsets motorists by clogging up traffic with his slow moving pedaling.

I got paid yesterday, so Patrick and I gave ourselves a budget and went shopping for some kitchen stuff.  Most important, of course... a Pizza Stone.  We found this one at Target for about $13.00  There is one through Amazon here: Bialetti 3 Piece Pizza Stone Set that looks to be the same.  I can not wait to try this out today!

Notice how its buried under some dishes?  That's because I got NEW DISHES!!!  I can't ell you how thrilled I was to get to go to shopping for new things.  I'm pretty easily entertained.

I was in dire need of a few dishes.  We were down to 3 old plastic dishes that were just... gross.  Stained, cheap, greasy plastic.  I also wanted to get some 'pretty' dishes for photographing meals on... but I am uberfrugal, so I didn't want to spend a fortune.

We looked at Garden Ridge and found a couple of bowls, but I really didn't want to spend $1.49 a piece on dishes stuff, so I didn't buy much, except a few of these Libbey Tempo Square Bowl Set of 12 that they had for sale individually for cereal and such.  I LOVED them!!  I feel so fancy now with square bowls:)

Then we stopped by Salvation Army for some workout clothes and I saw all of these amazing dishes, ranging from 50 cents to $1.00.  Yay!  Not as cheap as a garage sale, but since there are no garage sales to be found in the middle of the snowy streets, this will have to do!  I also got some little ramekins with great fitting lids for 50 cents each!  *I did find some later at Marshalls that came with a set of 4 for $6 on the clearance shelf, so that's a place I wouldn't have thought to look for kitchen stuff

I Also picked up this book because it was making my husband drool:)  The recipes look fantastic!

We had lunch at Pei Wei.  I had the Spicy Chicken Salad and it was wonderful.  Not terribly "Clean" but it was really yummy:)  I have no problem treating myself occasionally:)  And besides, now I am aware that:

And how else would I have learned that lovely little tidbit?

Oh yeah, I have to share this.  We were walking through Garden Ridge when I came around the corner and saw this: 

 Yes.  They actually sell life-sized knights in shining armor.  I was going to get one for a friend, then I realized they were EMPTY.  No knight in shining armor after all.. just an empty shell.   I actually made a couple laugh at me because I was standing there like an idiot with my mouth hanging open in shock:)

To end the day, the giant wall Pirahna says, "Have a Nice Day! Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom!!!"

Look at the outright dorky look on my face... I was trying not to crack up at this absurd fish.  That my husband actually LIKED.  Thank goodness we can't afford giant fish wall hangings!
