Clean Eating:
In a nutshell... clean foods are those that are in their natural state. No high fructose corn syrup, no msg, no refined sugars or flours, processed, prepackaged foods. If you want a quick read on the ins and outs, I recommend “The Eat Clean Diet” by Tosca Reno. If you want a more in depth look, yet easy to read, I recommend “This is Why You're Fat” by Jackie Warner (although I probably would title it, “This is why you're Unhealthy, Tired, sickly... etc... but that's not as catchy:)
Jackie goes more into the details of how things affect your hormone levels that affect your energy levels, sleep cycles, weight, health, etc. I like reading that after reading other books like the Eat Clean Diet and even Master Your Metabolism by Jillian Michaels.
It was after reading probably 4 or 5 books on health and nutrition that I was finally sold on the healthy eating... “clean” eating. I gradually made the changes in my own diet and saw a significant difference. Not only in weight loss, but after doing a cleanse and continuing the clean eating, I was finally FINALLY sleeping through the night (wow!) and having more energy.
After Christmas I was shopping with my mom and came across “The Clean Eating Magazine” and HOLY BEANS. This magazine was absolutely mind bogglingly easy and simple and packed full of recipes, organized charts and how to's. It made everything so... doable. That cinched it. I was bringing the Clean Eating home!
My New Year's Resolution was to bring my entire family into the Clean Eating habit... thus this blog was born. We're all enjoying the variety of foods and we're all feeling so much better. I think even our moods are more stable (which is saying a lot in our passionate, emotional household full of teenagers and pre-teen little balls of hormonal girls!).
If you have any questions, feel free to comment and I'll try to address them!
